Villu Veski is one of the best-known Estonian jazz musicians who has performed in the world’s most famous concert halls – Berliner Philharmonie, London Queen Elizabeth Hall, Tokyo Opera City, Toronto Ford Center, Bruckner House Austria. He has countless cooperation projects both at home and abroad. Villu Veski is also a founding member of Festival Juu Jääb. Multiple awarded

As a soloist and ensemble player, Villu Veski’s repertoire includes classical alto saxophone works and plenty of creations for saxophone quartet, on the other hand, on the jazz side, old swing style and ethno-jazz and funky grooves are preferred. He has performed at Estonian Music Days and the NYYD festival as a presenter of new Estonian music.

Villu Veski – Tiit Kalluste duo Nordic Sounds. Villu Veski and accordionist Tiit Kalluste started a duo project creating and performing Nordic music in 1997. in Paris, under the name „Voices of the Northern Islands“. . Veski and Kalluste have released 3 albums with the project „NordicSounds“

The  programmeof folksongs and compositions displays the elegiac beauty of Scandinavian folk music in a combination of up-to-date and ancient styles. The musicians: „It’s like a musical travel report from the Nordic Islands, inspired by nature, folk music, legends and myths.

 

Villu Veski Tiit Kaluste – Tango Nuevo

In 2002, VILLU VESKI and Tiit Kalluste traveled to Buenos Aires to experience real tango, find inspiration and create new tango music. Just one year later, the Tango Nuevo concerts were successfully performed on Estonia’s largest stages with a repertoire from both musicians, in which the legendary tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s grandson Pipi Piazzolla took part.

Now, 20 years later, passionate and deep tango in the performance of real jazz masters sounds even more mature and heated the senses, which comes to the performance in the key of jazz.
